What to bring for a Photoshoot?
If you are not used to photoshoots don’t worry, this article is for you. I got you covered.
What to bring for a photo session is usually one of the first things we think of.
Well, in reality, it depends on how you would like to see yourself. You can be just casual and bring your most comfortable clothes or you can be a little bit creative, by bringing a certain type of “props”.
So what are props? These are items that will complete your looks in a certain scenario. They can be as simple as a book, or umbrella to more sophisticated ones like a big mirror. It all depends on your creativity and your taste.
The concept is to add something a little extra to you, to complete the “story” we want to tell. Even simple things such as a Map, or playing with your Sunglasses in your hand can help to complete the look. Or ask me to pass you my second camera and we pretend you are taking photos. The imagination has no limit.
Remember, my photo sessions are all about flexibility. We can change scenarios, props, locations, etc. Just feel free to talk to me and share your thoughts and ideas.
But, enough about props, let’s get back to the clothes.
During my photo tour experience, you will go through different scenarios, like lakes, forests, and beaches. We will walk sometimes for 10 to 20 minutes on dirt tracks, so comfortable clothing and shoes can be recommended. But many times, these outfits are not the most “Instagramable”, if you know what I mean. That’s why there is always the possibility of bringing a bag with a spare pair of shoes or a dress, shirt, etc. You can change on-site.
This happens often on professional photoshoots where people change clothes right before the camera makes the “clicks”. You can also bring your own make-up to do some final retouches. Don’t feel shy about it, and ask me all the questions you might have.
The Azores islands, especially São Miguel, are covered by nature. It’s one of the most desired and trendy places right now because has very little tourism, wonderful landscapes, and big volcanos, where some of them turned into lakes. So, with a few exceptions the dominant color is very vivid green. So it can help, to have clothes that “run away” from this color tendency.
This way I recommend you to use colors that make you stand out from the background. Red and Yellow are usually colors that are very different from the Green.
White can also be interesting, but we need to be careful mainly for 2 things: 1st sometimes the sky is cloudy and a white dress (for example) will blend with the background; 2nd, we need to have a tan or a darker skin tone, so your body separates from your clothes.
But, enough about theory. You are here to have fun and capture those wonderful memories. So, if you want to simplify this, my advice is to go to Social Platforms and look for ideas that you enjoy, like for example, “Pinterest”. I also use it and many times is possible to recreate certain scenarios.
Pinterest is a great way to have ideas. Not only for props but also for poses. Alone, with your partner, or heaven with the family or group of friends, there are tons of different poses you can try while in the photoshoot.
The position of the arms, legs, the whole body, or for example a special hug in a couple, making hearts with the hands. The possibilities are numerous.
But don’t forget to save the images so you can share them with me.
